Analysis of dynamic thermal rating of overhead power lines in the conditions of forced convection considering non-linearity of heat transfer processes

The approach to analysis of a dynamic temperature mode of overhead power lines is proposed. The implementation of the approach is completed with lowering the wire temperature with the least square method. An analytical solution of nonlinear differential equations of non-isolated wire heating under forced convection has been determined. The authors propose equations based on the solution for calculating an average temperature and energy losses for an arbitrary period in the non-insulated wire. A special feature of the analytical solution is its general character. In contrast to numerical studies of thermal modes, an analytical form simplifies analysis implementation. Results of wire temperature calculations with the developed method and data of experimental investigations of temperature at different wind speeds are compared. Results obtained under the same conditions and calculation outcome match.
