Control methods and systems providing reduced consumption index at rolled product manufacture at plate mill

The cost value of products manufactured at the plate mill is determined by high consumption indexes per a ton of finished goods. The value of actual material consumption at plate rolling is most significantly influenced by wastes with side and butt scraps due to plate plan deviation from rectangular form. An average scrap volume amounts 85% of total wastes. The report offers analysis of up-to-date rolling methods providing plate form improvement in plan view. The most effective way to improve the feed form is rolling with wide edge shaping by horizontal rolls. The study provides the functional diagram of the developed control system for hydraulic drive of the screw-down mechanisms in the shape-rolling mode.
