Transient stability considerations in a real distribution system with distributed generators

This paper investigates the impact of small-scale hydrogenerators on the transient behaviour of a real distribution system in Greece. The analysis includes the investigation of the influence that various excitation control modes have on the rotor angle stability of the generators. Moreover, other critical parameters affecting rotor angle stability are examined and measures are proposed in order to improve transient stability. Special attention is paid to how reverse power flows affect the stability of the system.
