End of life considerations for EV batteries - ISO and Indian business perspectives

Global trends forecast a rise in the demand for electric vehicles. This is further strengthened by evidence of changing customer expectations, of decreasing battery cost and improving efficiency, and of increasing government stimulus. This thus implies the rise in the number of electric vehicle batteries that will be manufactured and distributed globally. Automakers ought to consider the impact on their business and how the adoption of environmental management systems can help mitigate associated risks and costs as these batteries approach their end of life. The changing global market and the introduction of innovative business models along with tightening emission standards will force automakers to at least partial electrification of the product portfolio and it is therefore vital for them to start considering appropriate environmental management systems such as ISO14001.
