Solid state Marx generator with anti-parallel capacitor configuration using Arduino

In this paper a Marx generator principle has been used to generate a 1.6 kV pulse at the output. Two groups of capacitors with anti-parallel charging is employed [6]. In order to reduce the switching and conduction losses resonance phenomenon has been used to trigger the switches. Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) switches are employed to connect the charged capacitors in series to supply the output pulse to the load. Control pulses for triggering the switches are generated using Arduino Uno. The topology is simulated in MATLAB and the desired result was obtained. Also a prototype with four stages of the Marx generator is made and tested with a low voltage.
