Developments in electricity generation plant control management

Considers the electricity production process from order to delivery. The paper describes the new man-machine interfaces that have been introduced to assist the power station control room operators in optimising the plant to achieve timely and accurate execution of despatch instructions. The paper also describes a major programme to update the control desks on over 11 GW of UK power plants. Many functions previously performed manually have been automated.
