Systematic representation and computation of human intuitive spatiotemporal knowledge as mental imagery

When people refer to physical locations in their casual communication, they would employ intuitive spatial relations such as `along', `across' and `between' rather than the global coordinates. These word concepts seem to be human cognitive products, namely mental imagery, about the physical environment. This paper describes an attempt to provide robots with capability of natural language understanding as well as humans based on a mental image model.
