System design and analysis of hand lunched UAV

The study of the paper focuses on the aerodynamic design and analysis of a hand launched Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV) for reconnaissance missions. The conceptual design is based on the discrete and iterative approach. With the initial guess of design parameters from previous designs, a number of iterations are performed by working within the design constraints in order to reach the targeted endurance. The optimized configuration is then analyzed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based codes. Finally, improvements are made by increasing endurance factor of full configuration using shape optimization through Adjoint Optimization module in ANSYS 15®. This work will do benefits to the research of light weight and long endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and their shape optimization.
