Evaluation of the coupling coefficient between patches in stacked patches using a new radiation model

Stacked patches have many performances [1] that make them the most appropriate option for many applications due to their wide band and easy manufacturing. However they are not many systematicways to design such antennas. This work presents a new radiation model for such antennas. The model is based on the two-slot radiation model for simple patches, and consists of a four or six element array depending on the supposition of infinite ground plane. Several useful parameters can be extracted from this model. This work will be centered in one of them: the coupling coefficient between upper and lower patches. This coupling coefficient will be a new tool in design of such antennas.
