A stripline fed printed wide slot antenna for UWB applications

The Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) technology is now emerging. But the difficulty to design antennas having all the UWB features still restrains its deployment. Indeed, in the case of wireless multimedia communication systems, the antennas have to: be compact, low cost, easy to fabricate and integrate; they also have to be matched from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz, and to transmit very short pulses without distorting them. This last point implies that their radiation patterns are stable in the band and that their transient response is well-suited to UWB pulses. Among the proposed structures presenting interesting characteristics [1]-[5], the wide slot structure [1], [3] is a good candidate for UWB [3].
