A near-field hybrid technique for predicting radiated fields in complex environments

This paper aims to provide a practical validation of an hybrid technique which has been developed for predicting radiated fields in complex environments [1]. Such a technique can be used for many situation of practical relevance, and is more particularly convenient to calculate the field radiated by BTS antennas for mobile communications. Such antennas can be easily characterized in free space, either from numerical simulation or from measurements. More difficult is the prediction of the field they radiate in presence of scattering obstacles located either in Near-Field (NF) or Far-Field (FF) region. Numerical approach may suffer from imperfectly taking into account some realistic details or from the limitation of the available computer power to consider electrically large scenes. On the other hand, experimental techniques deal with real antennas and can integrate scattering objects located in their close vicinity, such as supports, fences, ext. But experimental approach suffers from the same difficulty to consider electrically large scenes.
