Radar cross section analysis of major scatterers

It is of great tactical significance to determine the radar cross sections (RCS) of the major scattering centres on naval ships. To assist naval engineers in the ranking of ship reflectors for RAM treatment, MATLAB software was developed. RCS profiles of flat plates, dihedrals and trihedrals were calculated using the theory of physical optics, the method of equivalent currents, geometric optics and ray tracing techniques. The RCS profiles obtained are in excellent agreement with other theoretical models in the literature [1-3], as well as with actual experimental measurements [3]. The program developed allows for frequency and viewing elevation control, which is of great practical interest from a ship defence perspective.
