System solution for gas consumption monitoring: From field data acquisition to on-line dashboards

As of 2016 Romania has a calendar on market liberalization for households, but lacks the calendar for the gas distribution companies to install smart-metering solution. With a schedule to increase the gas price by 12% per year for the next 3 years, the customers' ability to monitor the gas usage becomes more and more important. This paper presents an affordable automatic meter reading system solution based on the latest developments in Internet of Things and Cloud Services to be used for gas consumption monitoring in the process of energy use optimization.
