A combination of GA and fuzzy set for a Phuket Tourism Planning Model (PTPM)

This article proposes Phuket Tourism Planning Model (PTPM) for tourists, who are interested in searching for an appropriate tourism package in Phuket under limited time constraints and tourism types. The tourism package searching process of the PTPM is based on a combination of two well-respected theories, including fuzzy set and genetic algorithm (GA). While fuzzy set theory was used for classifying types of tourist attractions by assigning a membership value to elements of the tourist attraction set, GA was applied to find plausible paths to all destinations matching the type of tourist attractions. The experimental result shows that the PTPM is efficient in providing a tourism package matching the tourist interests under a limited time condition.
