A novel Simplified Augmented State Diagram of Three Dimensional Turbo Code

The prime requirement of any modern communication system is to transmit secured data with minimum error. Efficient channel coding technique like Turbo code (TC) plays a major role in this regard due to its great Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. Further improvement in BER performance can be achieved by introducing the concept of Three Dimensional Turbo Code (3D-TC). The evaluation of the upper bound on the BER performance of the 3D-TC from the knowledge of the transfer function is considered as an interesting research aspect in the area of communication. In this regard, a novel approach called Simplified Augmented State Diagram (SASD) has been proposed in this paper to evaluate the transfer function of the 3D-TC. Moreover, the constricted upper bound on the BER of the 3D-TC has been evaluated. Finally, this method has been applied on the both punctured and the non-punctured 3D-TC and corresponding BER performances have been analyzed.
