Analysis of linear induction motor for Aircraft Launch System considering end-effects

This paper illustrates the analysis of L.I.M as an electro-mechanical system according to the equations implied in the process. Initially, the analysis of the motor is done considering the end effects which is the practical case, whereas the next case is the ideal case in which analysis is done without considering the end-effects. Equivalent circuit model in each case is obtained considering various parameters. On the basis of the circuit model, equations are evaluated and then a simulation model will be obtained in each case. The thrust output in each case is compared. The simulation model is aimed for the control of thrust output of in Aircraft Launching System. The launch system referred here is the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launching System. It aims at accelerating aircraft to high speed in very short distances. The advantages of such a system are increased efficiency, increased capacity and reduced maintenance. This paper reports on initial stages of work done on the usage of L.I.M for Aircraft Launching System.
