Design of antennas for transient ultra wide band (UWB) systems

UWB planar antenna under development should allow to obtain a compact printable antenna which should be able to be integrated into low cost systems. Its disadvantages are holes at certain frequencies in its radiation pattern and a dependence of its low frequency limit with the size of ground plane. The UWB wire patch antenna offers a rather clean radiation pattern and a good matching on the bandwidth. Its advantage is a great compactness compared to antennas such as UWB monopole. Moreover its bandwidth does not depend on the size of the ground plane. Its disadvantage is a more difficult integration and a higher cost compared to printable antenna.
