Using trust management to defend against routing disruption attacks for cognitive radio networks

In this paper, we address the problem of routing disruption attacks in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs). In routing disruption attacks, the malicious node intentionally drop data packets to consume more network resources or degrade routing performance. We propose a trust management model to mitigate such attacks in CRNs. Through monitoring forwarding behaviors of secondary users (SUs), trusts of SUs are constructed to identify malicious nodes. And we show how to apply the trust management model into routing protocol to defend against routing disruption attacks. Simulation results show the effectiveness in improving network throughput and end-to-end delay under routing disruption attacks.
