AC/DC converter with indirect matrix converter using a novel snubber configuration

This paper proposes AC/DC converter with high frequency isolation. The proposed converter employs an indirect matrix converter (IMC) to convert three phase AC to high frequency AC using a novel snubber configuration and control suitable for implementation using 6-in-1 module. In an IMC, a snubber circuit is required instead of electrolyte capacitor in order to absorb energy of leakage inductor of transformers. In addition, both input and output have to be controlled simultaneously. In this paper, a novel snubber configuration is proposed suitable for implementation with 6-in-1 module. Control scheme for the proposed circuit is also explained in order to realize reliable and high efficient converter.
