A novel torque ripple reduction method for IPMSM using asymmetric notch lamination design

The purpose of this paper is to propose a novel torque ripple reduction method for vibration and nose minimization of an interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) by adopting asymmetric notch lamination design (ANLD). The existing asymmetric lamination designs are limited to asymmetric barrier design (ABD) of rotor configuration in IPMSM. To highlight the advantages of the proposed method, Advantages of ABD and ANLD are combined to minimize torque ripple more effectively, compare to when only ABD is used. The validity of the analysis is confirmed by a finite element method.
