Hybrid adaptive robust structural vibration control

The focus of the paper is active vibration control with applications to cable-stayed bridges. Hybrid vibration control, involving the combined use of feedforward and feedback techniques, is proposed for a cable-stayed bridge. A 1/150-scale model of an actual cable-stayed bridge is designed, fabricated and compared to an existing structure using modal analysis. An analytical method for placing sensors and actuators on the structure is developed using operational deflection shapes (ODS) data within the frequency range of interest. Using DSP-based digital hardware, controllers are designed, developed and implemented on the structure. Analytical and experimental results are presented and compared.
