Design of RF CMOS active mixers for WLAN applications

A design of CMOS active mixer with source degenerated transconductance stage, with 90nm RF CMOS technology at a supply voltage of 1.2 V is presented to improve the third order input intercept point(IIP3). In the proposed design, the third order inter modulation current IM3 of the transconductance stage is vitiated by introducing a new term. This new term has equal in magnitude and an opposite phase with IM3. At 2.4GHz frequency, obtain results shows a third order input intercept of 19.8dBm with output bandwidth 20MHz while 1.2 mA current is consuming excessively. The proposed mixer architecture do not alter other performance parameters such as conversion gain and noise factor. The proposed technique is well suited to wireless local area networks.
