Chapter Abstract:
Enabling search capability for enterprises with a complex technology ecosystem requires careful planning and considerations. This chapter looks at advanced topics of search. It begins with a discussion of federated search along with its design topics and architecture. The chapter focuses on advanced search features such as relevancy rank adjustment, personalized search, and alternative search suggestions. It then describes secured search and underlying security integration and provides an overview of semantic search along with its architecture and semantic search process. Secured search can be implemented using transport‐level security, document access control list (ACL), content‐level security, data masking and encryption, secured search services and application programming interfaces (APIs), data‐level security, and security for unstructured content. The chapter also looks at people search, social search, and big data search and describes a search case study of a content and document management portal driven by Apache Solr search engine.
