The exposure assessment to communication equipment of high-power substation

The high-power substations, as an essential part of power distribution network, are being equipped with various communication equipments for remote control and processes supervision. Therefore, those objects become sources of the high-frequency electromagnetic field (EMF). Moreover, regarding its infrastructure and constant security observation, those objects become highly interesting for operators of commercial communication services. These facts are in line with public demand for EMF investigation in the vicinity of such objects, but not only of the low-frequency magnetic field. In this paper, the case study of the high power 110/x kV outdoor substation “Novi Sad 7” has been considered, presenting the high-frequency electric field strength monitoring in its vicinity. The obtained measurement results are below the Serbian prescribed reference levels, while potential EMF exposure is far below of the maximal allowed level.
