QT based patient setup display GUI design for radiation oncology machine on Beagle Bone Black

Human error may be fatal for the patients undergoing treatment if any error happens while setting the machine from hand written logs. This paper gives design methodology of Patient Setup Display GUI (Graphical User Interface) application, which is based on Beagle Bone Black ARM A8 as hardware platform and Qt over Linux 2.6 Kernel as application development. The GUI will enable monitoring of various set up parameters of radiation oncology machine. Actual and target parameters of patient set up are displayed on the monitor in the treatment room. These current system parameters are updated to the BBB (Beagle Bone Black) over TCP/IP at an interval of 500msec. The operators set the patient manually using the keypads available on the Patient Support Assembly, the motion is updated on the display in the real-time through TDC (Treatment Delivery Control). At the end we have a small low cost embedded application for the physicists during the treatment and secondly it can be easily expand and helpful during the maintenance of the system.
