PBRR based routing algorithm for the alternative path selection in WSNs

This paper proposes PBRR and Blowfish algorithms to achieve three factors in one dimensional (1-D) queue network. These factors are network lifetime, increased packet delivery ratio and average residual energy. Network lifetime is defined as amount of time the nodes are awake in the network. Packet delivery ratio is defined as ratio of number of packets received by destination to the number of packets sent by the source. Average residual energy means the amount of energy present in the nodes during data transmission. PBRR algorithm is designed to select reliable path between sources and sink nodes with reduced packet loss. It is also used to select alternative path when malicious nodes are detected. To transmit the data in more secured way, data is encrypted and decrypted using Blowfish algorithm. Simulation results shows that the PBRR algorithm significantly improves the network performance compare to ENS-OR algorithm.
