Bandwidth planning tool for optical networks

Planning for a network is important for deployment of any network. For large capacity network, planning has to be done to increase efficiency and therefore setting up a test-bed to perform even a basic test would be really difficult. Planning tool will give a mirror image of the actual network, thereby ensuring that there are no gaps in what is being planned and what is being deployed. The software present in the planning tool can predict and forecast usage of bandwidth in the network and also can predict congestions in the planned network. Network simulator is used as the basic element to design this tool and this paper explains how the network planning tool can be managed effectively by the user. The software present in the planning tool predicts and projects the usage of bandwidth in the network and also forecasts the congestions in the planned network using EMS and NMS server and node software simulators.
