Specification of spline regression model with variable penalties

The problem of selection of groups of basic functions in the spline regression model with variable penalties coefficients is considered. A series of numerical experiments compared three different approaches to the definition of groups of basis functions carried out by computer simulation. According to the results of computational experiments are given practical recommendation on the choice of model specification spline regression with variable coefficients of penalty.
