Sensing properties of NiO@SnO2 based sensor to hydrogen extracted from transformer oil

A novel NiO@SnO
₂
chemical gas sensor was proposed to detect hydrogen H
₂
gas extracted from transformer oil. NiO@SnO
₂
nanostructures were synthesized via an environment-friendly hydrothermal method and planar chemical gas sensors based on the synthesized samples were fabricated. Sensing performances of the fabricated NiO@SnO
₂
chemical gas sensors to H
₂
were performed on a CGS-1TP intelligent gas sensing analysis system. Compared with pure SnO
₂
sensor, superior H
₂
sensing properties with the proposed NiO@SnO
₂
chemical gas sensor were measured, which could be ascribed to the formation of p-n hetero-junctions between p-type NiO and ntype SnO
₂
sensing materials. Furthermore, the prepared NiO@SnO
₂
chemical gas sensor exhibits a quasi-linear relationship to H
₂
gas with concentration ranging 1-50 μL/L These results demonstrate that the proposed NiO@SnO
₂
chemical gas sensor a promising candidate for recognition and analysis of H
₂
gas extracted from transformer oil.
