Simulation study on electric field of UHV transmission lines with different numbers of sub-conductors

Electric field intensity of UHV transmission line is an important parameter in planning and constructing of the line. At present, most of the transmission lines are designed by split conductor. In this paper, the finite element method is used to calculate the electric field intensity with different Numbers of sub-conductors. The simulation is based on the finite element software ANSYS. The results show that different numbers of the sub-conductor has great influence on the electric field. Considering the maximum average electric field, the electric field under the line 1.5m and the corridor width of the line, the eight split sub-conductors should be adopted.
