ProVa: A proximity validation approach for enhanced device discovery

Towards the new era of communications, direct communications are intensively studied by industry and academia. One of the major challenges in this communication paradigm is the device discovery problem, referring to the mutual detection of neighboring devices prior the establishment of the direct communication. Recognizing the scarcity of the radio resources and the need for frequent discovery transmissions, we propose a validation approach as a complement to the device discovery process. Building on the idea that the neighboring relationship of some devices may last for long time, an enhanced radio resource allocation is applied for those devices, improving the overall performance of the discovery process.
