A Series-Parallel Compensated IPT System with Load-Independent Voltage Gain and Efficiency

In this paper, by first analyzing the circuit model of series-parallel compensated inductive power transfer (IPT) system, the relation among voltage gain, transfer efficiency, operation frequency and load resistance is obtained. According to the analysis, a novel design of series-parallel compensated IPT system realizing optimized transfer efficiency and voltage gain regardless of load resistance is then proposed. Simulation and experiment verification are carried out with various load resistances. An almost load-independent voltage gain and efficiency up to 96.8% are achieved when the air gap between coupled coils is 17.91mm.
