A Formal Combinational Logic Synthesis With Chemical Reaction Networks

The computational capability of chemical reaction networks (CRNs) intensively motivates molecular computation. In this paper, a total of five systematic approaches of synthesizing combinational logic with chemical reactions are proposed. As in some of our earlier works, a Karnaugh map (K-map), which well depicts the logic function of a certain CRN system, is required for all approaches. Several concrete examples are employed for a better understanding of the proposed methods. Numerical results based on chemical kinetics have verified the validity, accuracy, robustness, and feasibility of our methods. Guaranteed by the existing literature, DNA strand displacement reactions could offer a good experimental chassis, which lay a solid foundation for physical implementation of nearly arbitrary CRNs.
