Manufacturing of using spray method to produce solar cell

Solar power generation is a renewable and environmental friendly power generation approach without generating any greenhouse gas (such as carbon dioxide). Therefore, the solar cell production technologies have been booming and widely used in recent years. Generally speaking there are a variety of solar cells, the most frequently seen of which is silicon-based solar cell. The silicon-based solar cell is usually composed of P/N diode, anti-reflection layer, front contact electrode, and back contact electrode. When the electrons and holes of silicon atoms are excited by sunlight and set free, free electrons will be affected by the built-in electric field at P/N diode to speed up the separation, and the electrons and holes will be attracted to the metal wires on top and bottom terminals, thus forming the power generating and conducting loops. In this work dissertation a new production process of solar cell device has been proposed, in which semiconductor materials and dopants are grinded into powders before being mixed with conductive adhesives. And this mixture will be used for spraying or coating in the sequence of p-i-n to make solar cell. This production technique is different from the solar cell production technique with traditional solid state material as the substrate, which is limited by the failure in refining and control of size of dopant particle. The electrons and holes of the solar cell based on traditional solid state substrate material can only be excited by lights with certain high energy spectrum, and this factor has limited the enhancement of power conversion efficiency of silicon-based solar cell produced by traditional approach.
