Wireless multipath fading channels modeling and simulation based on Sum-of-Sinusoids

One major characteristic of wireless channel is multipath fading effect, which may results in signal distortion and intersymbol interference (ISI) significant. For this reason, modeling and simulation the wireless multipath fading channels is important to designing communication system. In this paper, we studied the transmission characteristic and derived the time-varying impulse response of wireless channels. And then a Sum-of-Sinusoids (SOS) model approach for wireless multipath channels is presented. Finally a COST207 channel simulation based on SOS is illustrated, which includes the performance simulation of OFDM-QPSK system and QPSK system.
