Energy efficiency in the milling process of dehydrated products, using hammer mill

The energy efficiency is important in all kinds of activities, and in industrial processes it's a very important factor both economically and environmentally. In the grinding processes, the energy efficiency is determined as much by the current that needs the motor of the mill as of the time that delays the grinding process, these two variables remain determined by the speed on which it feeds on product to the mill. Therefore the purpose of this study is to determine in an experimental way, the feeding speed of product to the mill, which allows to obtain the maximum possible energy efficiency, for it several grindings are realized for different products, each one with different speeds of feeding of product to the mill, the interest variables are measured and the obtained information is analyzed. Besides it is determined in a quantitative form the energetic and economic benefits that are obtained on having changed of working with any operation point, to work with the suitable operation point. The methodology used can be applied in any milling process to determine its appropriate point of operation and improve its energy efficiency. This realized study is a starting point since by means of the empirical analysis, on having changed only one of the variables, it was possible to demonstrate clearly the possibility of improving the energy efficiency in grinding processes, later studies can be realized with a deeper analysis including other variables.
