Adherence analysis of new technological models of infra-structure in North American electricity sector

This paper proposes see how the new technologies related to the concept of smart grids can influence on the current technological model of power transmission infrastructure in NAFTA. The comparative analysis of energy integration and smart grid technologies applied in bloc countries show that: for over four decades began on robust initiatives for cross-border electricity interconnection in North America, mainly between the US and Canada; notwithstanding the existence of the classic models of regulation, and the degree of adherence to new models and still variable and unbalanced in countries like Mexico, and that investments in technologies for network optimization and a major factor for countries to act in an integrated and balanced manner. Concluding that integration of the electricity market between the United States and Canada and Europe, occurred through agreements that enabled the start of the formation of free trade in energy goods and services.
