Recognition of OFDM and SCLD signals based on the Generalized Mean Ambiguity Function

In the regard of cognitive radio or various military/ civilian applications, Modulation Recognition (MR) is a process whereby the modulation type of unknown received signal can be identified. In this paper, we propose a new MR method using the particular properties of the Generalized Mean Ambiguity Function (GMAF) of the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Single Carrier Linear Digitally (SCLD) modulated signals, when affected by an Additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). Computer simulations are provided to illustrate the usefulness and the behavior of the proposed method in the context of systems communications based on SCLD or OFDM signal.
