Designing and testing 1 x N visual light communication system for homes/buildings

For enhancing environmental management, more buildings are using optical ducts to transfer sunlight into rooms or corridors. However, new applications are possible if the ducts are used for optical communication. This paper confirms the feasibility of implementing point-to-multipoint (1 x N) optical communication (broadcasting) can be achieved by using visual light communication technology, describes the experiments conducted. Mathematical simulation of the proposed configuration and its experiment clarified the possibility to configure one-to-several points communications.
