Non-contact wet mate connectors for subsea observation networks

Wet mate connectors enable subsea devices to have mutual power and data transfer. Lack of reliability, limited mating and de-mating circulation and complex utilization are the major drawbacks of the conventional contact wet mate connectors. Non-contact power transfer technology has no requirement of electrical contact between power transfer devices, which is more suitable for the subsea occasions. In this paper, a kind of novel designed non-contact wet mate connector is proposed. It is designed as a series of products which have different input voltages and power capability. These connectors have simple circuits and compensating topology together with satisfying power transfer properties and reliable performance. A 48VDC connector has 300 W power capability and 80% power transfer efficiency. It also has built-in wireless signal transfer modules and reaches over 2Mbps data transfer speed.
