Performance evaluation of the dual signal receiver for a quadrature modulation scheme

The dual signal receiver (DSR) is a narrowband multi-user receiver. Because of its lower complexity and promising results, it can be a valid alternative to CDMA multi-user reception schemes. This paper has three objectives, namely: (i) a presentation of a new realization of the DSR concept, (ii) an investigation of the performance of the DSR with QPSK, and (iii) a comparison of the results for the DSR with QPSK with those of conventional receivers using QPSK and 16-QAM. Under certain conditions, the DSR with QPSK performs more efficiently than the conventional receivers with QPSK and 16-QAM and could therefore represent an effective solution for the spectrum scarcity problems of future mobile communications.
