An advanced PD diagnosis devices employable for 345kV XLPE cable system in Korea

Based on the technical improvement of the High Frequency Partial Discharge Measurement applied to the insulation diagnosis of Extra-High-Voltage power cable system since last two decades in the world-wide market, the first model for Partial Discharge Monitoring System was also developed in Korea and then it was applied to KEPCO underground power cable system several years ago. However, it has brought about some on-site inconveniences, in particular, in terms of the reliability and transportability. And thus, the second model of PD diagnosis device has been developed considering compactness for working environment in the tunnel and easy handling of data acquisition based on our long years' technical experiences in domestic grid. In consequence, many a heavy works have been relieved with improved reliability of the regular surveillance effectuated by the workers at the site. In this paper, detailed information, such as software and hardware, about the second model is well described together with the technical function and easy convenient working process.
