Brainwave enabled multifunctional, communication, controlling and speech signal generating system

The Neurons in the human brain continuously generate the various types of Brainwave frequencies which are known as Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Theta waves. The proposed research is intended to find out the implications and effects of various external parameters using a customized framework by using well known methods after studying brainwave responses to various parameters of environment. There are continuously varying changes in human brain waves known as affective and cognitive responses. There are brain wave measuring devices available which measures EEG but they are proprietary and come in a big system widely used by medical professionals. These devices are very much expensive too and don't provide raw data access which can be utilized for later processing. The EEG data can be ported too on mobile phones and there are references found by which it has been ported to open source mobile phones for brain mapping. Many communication technologies have been developed in past years but development of communication systems for physically disabled people is the need of the day. As per the UNESCO's policy for Education for all, every human has right to learn and learning can only be possible for the disabled if a person is able to communicate. m-Sense (mobile Sense) is basically a mobile application with a low cost hardware which measures brainwave parameters and takes necessary actions based on the developed embedded algorithms. There has been continuous effort in the field of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) in the past few years and now this is the time to give a little shift to this technology to integrate brain with mobile devices. m-Sense is basically an Android based mobile application which connects to the EEG Sensor TGAM Chip B3 (cube) Band which is product of Neuro-Bridge, Japan having one dry EEG sensor with quite good form factor and Bluetooth data connectivity powered by small battery. A user with disability can wear the EEG headset and once connected with the mobile device he/she can perform various basic tasks of making a voice call or sending a text message. The mobile application can be configured with auto passkey for the B3 Band Bluetooth address and can be connected easily wherein a user can also see the actions being taken on the mobile device. The user can make a call by just changing the brain wave level for attention or meditation and based on the preloaded encoding algorithm in the mobile application various alphabets or digits can be generated. Details for the same are discussed in first part of this paper. People with disabilities can also control various home appliances or can change TV channels with B3 Band if it is connected with Bluetooth enable Arduino open source platform having controlling relays. This is discussed in the later part of the paper.
