Energy saving possibilities of mine ventilation fan using particle swarm optimization

The objective of this work is to get the optimum speed of a mine ventilation fan motor by applying particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. This proposed optimization can be applied in underground coal mine to provide healthy environment in mine areas, better fan performance with minimum operating cost and minimum power consumption of the fan/motor. The application of PSO imparts the ability of tuning itself automatically in an on-line process while the application of optimization algorithm to controller makes it to give an optimum output by searching for the best set of solutions for the air flow, pressure and power consumption and speed parameters in mine.
