Analysis of flat-gain hybrid optical amplifier using pump optimization and pump recycling

In this paper a three stage Hybrid Optical Amplifier has been realized using Raman and Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier to achieve wideband and almost flat gain profile. Multiple pumps and the technique of pump optimization and pump recycling remains the heart of the configuration. Pump recycling enhances the gain flatness and increases the span length of the network without adding to the cost of new pumps. Gain bandwidth of ~80 nm and gain ripple under 3 dB has been observed.
