Characterization of CdS/CdSe window layers in CdTe thin film solar cells

Thin film CdTe solar cells devices are fabricated using bi-layer stacks of CdS and CdSe with the intent of increasing the photocurrent generated within the CdTe layer. Variations in device spectral response with varying thickness of the CdS layer within the bi-layer stack are examined. Also, the impacts of processing conditions used for CdTe deposition and CdCl
₂
annealing treatments are studied with respect to the CdS/CdSe/CdTe interface characteristics.
