Scattering of an electromagnetic vortex Bessel beam by a gyrotropic cylinder perpendicular to the beam symmetry axis

The scattering of an E-polarized electromagnetic vortex Bessel beam by a gyrotropic cylinder the axis of which is perpendicular to the beam symmetry axis is studied. It is shown that for the incident beam with the topological charge greater than unity in magnitude, the spatial spectrum of the scattered field is limited in terms of the longitudinal (cylinder-aligned) propagation constant such that this constant does not exceed the transverse (with respect to the beam symmetry axis) wave number in the vortex beam. It is demonstrated that at the resonant frequencies of the surface plasmons of the scatterer, the magnitude of the Poynting vector of the total field in the inner region of the cylinder and near its surface in the outer region is significantly enhanced compared with that in the incident beam. It is also found that the longitudinal component of the Poynting vector as a function of the observation point inside the cylinder can be either positive or negative.
