A decision aid process for strategic insourcing/outsourcing in a supply chain

As part of the supply chain, logistic functions represent important cost and service factors that organizations thrive to improve. They often consider outsourcing part or all their logistics as a strategy for resolving problems that weaken their performance. However, deciding whether to outsource or not, which functions to outsource, and to what extent is not a straightforward process. Decision making in this regard requires the selection of an effective framework to guide through the process. This paper suggests a decision aid approach for strategic insourcing and outsourcing to guide decision makers in the decision making process. This approach is then applied to a real case of pharmaceuticals' supply chain in the Moroccan public health sector.
