A content-centric efficient search with structured overlays in P2P-VoD system

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks are the solutions to the vastly generated video traffic transmission in the Internet today. The P2P overlay networks arose from the need to share the content server load, mostly for the requests which involve in the transmission of huge sized data and thereby generated number of packets as in the case of video streaming. Consequently, the primary design of overlay networks(avl/splay) for Peer-to-Peer systems was used to manage heavy congestion. A peer-to-peer system is composed of hundreds of geographically distributed networks and storage resources usually located under different ISP (Internet Service Provider) networks. The requirement for peer networks arise because the data is being produced at a tremendous rate and huge volume especially from video streaming in the fields of video conferencing, live telecasting of sports events and many others. The overlay networks' requirements are more complex than peer networks even though it is quite similar to normal Peer-to-Peer systems. Distributed systems refer to managing hundreds or thousands of computer systems that are individually more limited in their memory and processing power. However, P2P networks concentrates on the efficient use of a pool of heterogeneous autonomous systems with optimal workload management.
