An analysis of economic feasibility of distributed generation using solar PV systems in the perspective of a domestic consumer in Kerala

Solar PV systems are being implemented at an ever growing rate in India due to various promotional schemes implemented by the central and state governments. This paper concentrates on evaluating a 2 kW and 3 kW on-grid system on the basis of financial viability in the perspective of a domestic consumer in LT-I tariff in the state of Kerala. Important data used for the calculations are taken from the “solar connect” project of ANERT. The analysis done will give the consumer an idea about whether he should go for a 2 kW system or a 3 kW system after considering his present daily average consumption of electrical energy.
